My name is Amanuel. I am married to my beautiful wife, Haset Tafesse and together we have 3 beautiful children, originally from Ethiopia.
I come from a family line of cultural Orthodox Christians, deeply rooted in ancestral worship and witchcraft. Broken marriages, sickness, struggles, and even death were common patterns in our family.
Everything began to change when God uniquely touched my mother around the time where i was born.
When I was six years old, I remember telling my parents that I wanted to be a “servant” and take that as a job in the future, even though I didn’t fully understand what that meant at the time. Looking back now, I see that this desire was placed in my heart by the Lord.
I began sharing my faith with friends at a young age , as early as six, and experienced deep joy through those small acts of mission. Around the age of twelve, my relationship with God grew more personal as I began to experience Him more deeply. From that time on, I became actively involved in evangelism through the local church and para churches.
After completing my undergraduate studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering, I was looking more ways to give and serve God. That was a time when God sent someone to connect me with Cru in Ethiopia, I was so excited and joined, as a Digital Missionary , leveraging all the skills i gained in my studies in Digital and physical means. Having served there for 5 years, I sensed that God was calling me to pause that season of ministry. He then led me to the United States to pursue a Master’s degree in Computer Science.
Currently I am working as a Senior Software Engineer at Siemens, for the Past 7 years. Even so, mission work has always remained in my heart, and I have been serving part-time in mission. Now I’ve reached a point where I can no longer do this part-time. God is clearly urging me to return fully to mission work. The world needs Jesus more than ever!
I was recently accepted to become a Cru missionary with Josh McDowell Ministry (Sightline). I’ll be using the education and engineering skills I’ve gained so far with the power and grace from our Lord, to take apologetics to every corners of the world, helping Christians grow in their faith, equipping them for ministry, and sending them out to make an impact in their own communities. My heart is to win souls for Christ and empower others to do the same.
